Shauna Barravecchio

Shauna’s Chandlery

In her recording, engineering and production work, Shauna Barravecchio sees herself as a resource for artists; her goal is always to help them sound like the best version of themselves, and to enable them to present their music to the world in the way that they hear it. Whether in editing, coaching during a session, or offering input on microphone selection, venue, and post-production, her focus is always on the artists’ vision, and how she can make that vision a reality.

Shauna’s philosophy in studio management is efficiency! She is the grease that keeps the machine moving through her logistical and financial organization, editing power, and much more! She manages projects from end to end, beginning with the planning stages, and finishing with authoring and delivering albums to labels. Shauna is eager to bring her expertise to the studio whenever possible, and her vast range of knowledge in many areas makes her an asset to the Immersive team.

Shauna received her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from McGill University in 2007. Towards the end of her undergraduate studies, she discovered her passion for music production through learning how to record herself, and went on to complete a 1-year sound recording program at McGill shortly after. Shauna’s Master’s Degree was focused in Sound Recording Technology at UMass Lowell, which she completed in 2015. Her Master’s thesis, “Deconstruction and Analysis of Multiphonic Clusters in the Modern Flute,” has informed Shauna’s ability to make decisions on how one might need to use microphone placement to achieve certain sounds when recording contemporary music.

Shauna met Jesse as an intern at Soundmirror in Boston, and has worked at Immersive Music Project since 2013 as a producer, engineer, and studio manager. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband, who is also a recording engineer— after boiling a microphone to remove the transformer on their second date, she knew he was a keeper! They share a great deal of recording equipment, and enjoy attending conferences together. Shauna is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and is an associate member of the Audio Engineering Society.
